Remodel or Renovate One or More Rooms

As a Realtor with my own home repair needs and many clients seeking a good local contractor, Peter Exis is my "go to guy".
He is always cost conscious for the client and often can propose simple fixes instead of more costly replacement projects.
He also completed a top to bottom renovation on an investment property for me in Kensington. Crew shows up on time and clean up after themselves.

Renovate or Repair a Home

Exis contracting has done major projects for our Condominum for many years. They are respective of our building and owners' time, efficient, cooperative, reasonably if not Inexpensively priced, and an ideal company to do business with in every way. I can find no fault whatsoever with their responsiveness, workmanship, care or communications. Just as importantly, this is a company who unlike many others keeps to their completion schedule and is trustworthy working on their own without condo owners in attendance. Highly, highly recommended!

Remodel or Renovate One or More Rooms

Exis General Contracting makes your home stand out! We recently bought a home that needed some updates - we decided to start by painting the whole house. We explained that we wanted a neutral, Martha Steward look around the home and Exis General Contracting made it happen. From our accent wall underneath the stairs to our now elegant dining room - our home now looks and feels like new. In addition to the painting, we also remodeled our fireplace. Mr Exis's team got rid of the 1990's green marble and replaced it with beautiful natural tile (resembling wood planks) which nicely complemented the country theme of our home. They painted the mantle white to make the new tile "pop" and now our fireplace really makes a statement in our home. Another thing we appreciated was how CLEAN we found our home after the work was done. Its the little things that make a difference for us and that is why we 100 % recommend Exis General Contracting for any remodeling needs. We can't wait to do the kitchen next!!!

Remodel a Kitchen

I've worked with a lot of contractors, but Exis Contracting is by far the best, most versatile skill-range, and responsive to customer's input. They begin on time, end on time, clean up at the end of each day, and are respectful to home owners. They are efficient and their costs are reasonable. They're an honest and ethical contracting company. Exis Contracting has remodeled our kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, painted our living, dining, and family room and installed crown molding. Exis researched and replaced our basement sump pump when it failed and cleaned up the basement water. When some siding (installed by another contractor) broke loose in a storm, his crew repaired it the next morning within an hour of the time I called. Disclaimer: I have no financial interest in or family affiliation with Exis contracting. I'm merely a very satisfied customer.

Dear Peter,
As our remodeling project draws to a close, I want to write on Debbie's and my behalf to thank you for the outstanding work you and your crew did for us in remodeling our kitchen, dining room and sun porch; and along the way installing light tubes in the upstairs hall, light tubes and recessed lighting in the living room, a lot of interior painting and, finally, hanging around after the work we'd contracted for was complete to do some repair work on the outside of our house.
From your original design recommendations through the final work, you have helped transform our home:
Our tiny, ugly kitchen is now spacious, beautiful, functional and a joy to be in and to use. It's great to cook dinner with Debbie, enjoy a glass of wine at the peninsula that connects the kitchen with the dining room, or to sit there together reading the paper over breakfast.
The openness as we move from kitchen to dining room to sitting room — all tied together by a beautiful new hardwood floor — and the enhanced lighting makes it a pleasure to linger in those rooms.
The French doors that separate the sitting room from Debbie's art studio gives the sitting room a cozy and open feeling, and defines Debbie's studio space in a way she values.
Because of both the change in the kitchen-dining room-sitting room and the enhanced lighting and new paint, the living room has been transformed from a dark room we never wanted to be in into a light and bright space it is a joy to spend time in.
In fact, if I could characterize what your design sense and quality work have accomplished, I would say that you have transformed our primary living spaces from separate rooms we didn't enjoy spending time in into a much more open and flowing space it is a joy to be in.
No remodel is without major disruption and dislocation; and yet you and your crew did everything possible to make our home as livable as possible during the remodel — from moving anything that needed to be moved, to always leaving the house tidy at the end of the day. The crew was a pleasure to have around — good people who do high quality work.
And you, Peter, have been a pleasure to work with — from your strong design sense to your steady attention to detail to you flexibility to your willingness to go the extra mile to your integrity.
We wish you all the best and are happy at any point to offer a strong reference.
And, we look forward to other projects together in the future.
Faithfully,

Dear Peter,
The first week in August, I learned a guest would be coming in mid-August to stay with us for three weeks. Our guest bathroom and guest bedroom hadn't been remodeled since the house was built in the 1970's and was desperately overdue for a complete overhaul before she arrived. I checked our local Burtonsville Gazette for contractors. I called two contractors before calling Peter.:
One contractor was expensive and unavailable; the other who was also expensive and said he'd drop by and take a look, but never did. Peter Exis came over that day. I showed him the bath and bedroom, described what I had in mind and told him about our impossibly tight time requirements. He thought for a minute and said his crew could meet the deadline.
He had a crew working on a bathroom similar in size to mine just a few blocks away and he asked the homeowner if I could see the bathroom in progress. The homeowner was happy to show off his remodeling. I saw a bathroom Peter had completed and another bath that was presently being tiled by one of Peter's staff. I was impressed by the staff's high quality care and craftsmanship. Peter had made very good suggestions to this homeowner about the tile, trim, cabinets, paint and the bathrooms looked beautiful. Outside, the homeowner told me that Peter's staff were polite, on time, were clean and neat during the work day, worked hard, stopped work on schedule and cleaned up at the end of every work day. He planned to hire Peter for additional jobs.
Based on what I saw and heard, I hired Peter immediately. Peter emailed a contract that specified exactly what we had agreed to and the payment schedule. This made the details and expectations clear. Peter gave us the option of selecting our own components or allowing him to select the components for us. We elected to select our own components and Peter volunteered to pick up the items too big to fit in our car; for example the vanity, toilet, tile, cement board, etc.
Peter and his staff started on time every day, worked hard, kept the house clean, did impeccable work, stopped at the end of the work day and cleaned up. Most important, they finished the job by my deadline. They were always polite and asked questions when they needed direction.
As well as good taste, Peter has a very high work ethic and the highest integrity of any contractor I have ever worked with. I plan to employ Peter for many other remodeling projects. His prices were very competitive and he is very willing to work with his customers to meet their requirements. I'm extremely happy to have found such a reliable and excellent contractor, and I recommend him very highly.

Dear Peter,
I want to thank you for an excellent job that was done in a professional, timely manner. Your men worked their butts off all the time they were at my house. They said they would start at 0800; they arrived 0745, prepared the site and were at work by 0800. They did not take any breaks except for lunch, stopped work at 1600 and then cleaned everything thoroughly prior to leaving.
I have talked to many of my friends about your work and a few, I believe, have jobs they should be getting to you about. I will recommend you and your crew to anyone interested in your type of work. I am extremely pleased with the result. Thank you for a job well done.
I have attached on picture.

Milton and Diane Cadenhead

Rockville, Maryland

Dear Peter,
As Diane and I reflect on the past year, we want to thank you again for the excellent job you and your crew performed during the exterior restoration of our home.
When we removed the aluminum siding in October and exposed the 106-year-old clapboard siding underneath, I was unsure if Diane and I knew what we were undertaking. But fortunately, you and your associates’ prompt and professional craftsmanship assured that our vision for our home restoration project was realized before winter set in. The facia, soffet, siding replacements and new side porch blend beautifully with the original material. Your special attention to detail as shown in the custom milled brick mold and half round gable vents really made the difference in the outcome of the project. Your entire crew was very professional and courteous. I hope you take as much pride in your work as we do in showing off the results!
We are delighted with the new appearance of our home. There’s no question that we will call you first for any future needs we may have. We will also highly recommend you and your company to friends who could benefit from your professional service. Finally, we would be honored to serve as a reference for any of your potential clients.
Once again, thank you for the outstanding performance on our renovation project.

Dear Peter,
Just want you to know that we are very pleased with our new bathrooms. Your people did a great job. They were very polite. Cleaned up after themselves. Worked continuously while here. Showed up everyday. Took the time and listen so as to know what we wanted. They looked after the little details that I would have never thought of like the title baseboard. I could not be happier with the experience or price. My Home Adviser review will reflect the quality work done.
